The town treasurer reported that her laptop was reporting an expired software application. Further inspection discovered that this was the old Kaspersky anti-virus software which had expired. The new Norton anti-virus software had not yet been installed.
Replaced Kaspersky anti-virus with Norton anti-virus software. Updated Chrome and Firefox to current versions. Ran Windows update and applied the waiting updates (April update plus a recent security update).
