Diane from Town of Warner Landuse emailed me to say that Marilyn was having issues getting into her email. The initial report was that there was a virus or something.
Upon arrival I discovered that Chrome had a spammy plugin of some sort. I reset Chrome to factor defaults to get rid of it.
I then had Marilyn walk me through her issue. The issue is that Microsoft thought her account was under attach so they locked it. In order to regain access she needed to supply 3 or 4 email addresses from recent emails as well as 3 or 4 email subjects (exactly). The recovery process also required a second email address to send a security code to. I created a gmail account shprd37@gmail.com for this. I discovered that her laptop Win10 mail program had been receiving her email. I was able to copy and paste all of the necessary data to recover access to her account.
I updated Chrome and Java before leaving. The PC was downloading a Windows update as I left.
Marilyn should set up an phone recovery option with Microsoft. I will send her an email to suggest that.
Note that before creating the gmail account, I accidentally created “shrpd37@gmail.com” transposing the “pr” as “rp”. Need to delete that one.
