Mary called this morning to report that the copier scan-to-email function wasn’t working. She said it stopped last week before she left for the holiday vacation. I deduced that this was probably like the last time when the on-site server had lost power. Mary verified that the server was in fact not running. She turned it on and now things are working. According to the server syslog, the server lost power at around Nov 25 just after 07:55 am.
The question I have is why. The UPS should have kept it running during a power outage and even then, the town hall generator should have kicked in after a minute or so. I will have to look at whether the UPS battery needs replacing.
