New fire station consultation

2018-09-18 2:00pm – 3:00pm ; 1.00 hr @ $50/hr; No Charge – Donation

I met Ed Mical at the current fire station to review schematics and equipment configurations for the new fire station. One thing I questioned was the designation of “TV” outlets with coax connections. None of the proposed equipment will support coax. The TV signal is via IP to the set-top box and then it is HDMI to the TV. The proposed equipment list includes converters to run HDMI over CAT6 wiring. We got on a con call with Glenn (Arcomm?) to discuss this. Glenn listened to my concern and suggested replacing with CAT6 outlets. The original configuration was one CAT6 and one coax port at each TV. Now there will be two CAT6 ports. Glenn was going to verify the cable count to make sure they have sufficient ports in the telecom room rack.

An addition question I had was why the quote included a 510 switcher and an 840 switcher. It looks go me like this might be an either-or pricing option. The FD would want theĀ  840 for its ability to display simultaneous multiple sources on multiple outputs. A con-call is being scheduled to discuss this. Emily Ring at Gov Connection is organizing this. The call is scheduled for Tuesday, 9/25 at 10am at the current fire station.
