Replaced Kaspersky Internet Security with Norton Security Premium on WVWD administrator PC.
Installed Norton, Carbonite, Firefox, Chrome, LibreOffice, Google Drive on new plant laptop. Suggested to Chuck that he bring laptop to town hall and leave it there, turned on, over night so that it can complete the backup. The reason for doing this is because town hall Internet is 100 Mbps vs the 1 Mbps at the plant. What would take days to complete at the plant will complete in a few hours at town hall.
If desired, WVWD may want to consider buying a copy of Win 10 Home (about $120) to wipe and install onto the old WVWD laptop. The laptop is currently in a broken state with Win 8 unable to do any updates. This is a severe security issue and leaves that laptop open to hacking, data loss, and potential disruption of the WVWD plant operations if someone was able to gain access to the control systems.
My understanding is that Chuck would like to have the old laptop be used by staff at the plant and I strongly recommend the laptop be upgraded to Win10 or replaced with something else (laptop, Chromebook, or tablet). Adding 4GB of RAM to the laptop would also be good and would cost about $30.
