Town Administrator Laptop Issues

Investigating laptop slowness. Reviewed active processes and found no cause. Reviewed event log. Many disk errors. Rebooted and chkdisk fixed many disk errors. Problems persisted. My recommendation since this is a Win 7 PC was that for the fasted resolution, to purchase a new Win 10 laptop. Got the OK to do that.

Laptop arrived on Monday, 2018-05-07.  Laptop was finally completed and delivered on Wednesday, 2018-05-09. Minolta copier added as a printer.

The last configuration task was email. This proved to be a challenge since prior email usage was MS-Outlook and this laptop doesn’t have MS-Office. I recovered most of the email from MS-Outlook but ran into a problem with MS-Outlook not updating the IMAP folders in a timely manner. Left the laptop on overnight in the hopes that it would eventually update the folders. This proved to be the case. On 2018-05-10 I cleaned up some temporary folders I had created and handed off the laptop for use.
